Job Description

Join Our Team as an AI Intern

Oliver Mechanical Inc. is a leading commercial mechanical contractor in New Hampshire. We pride ourselves on our professional leadership, strategic planning, and results. We are at an early stage of exploring how AI can improve how we work, whether in the office, field, or warehouse.

The AI Intern will be responsible for helping OMI take a more strategic and thoughtful approach to AI adoption. They will start with discovery, learning our business and identifying where AI could meaningfully reduce friction for a specific role or team. They will then synthesize their findings into 2–3 concrete, well-reasoned opportunities and present them to the leadership team. One opportunity will be selected as a pilot and the intern will work directly with the department leader and owner to design and implement the solution.

What You’ll Do:

This is an in-person role and will report directly to the owner, with exposure across the leadership team. It is intended to be a full-time summer internship, however it can begin earlier and/or last longer based on individual availability, performance, and company needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct a structured discovery process (e.g., interviews, observation, workflow review) to understand where team members spend time on manual, slow, or repetitive tasks
  • Develop 2–3 specific AI opportunity recommendations, including strategic rationale, operational considerations, and cost / benefit / risk analysis
  • Present findings to the leadership team and participate in the prioritization conversation
  • Design and implement a pilot for the selected opportunity in partnership with the relevant department leader and owner
  • Document the process, outcomes, and lessons learned, as well as a reflection on the implementation of the other proposed solutions

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in computer science, information systems, business analytics, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience both using and building AI tools
  • Strong communication skills across functions and levels of technical expertise
  • Self-starter, able to structure an analysis and work independently
  • Exposure to construction, trades, or field-service businesses is a plus but not required

Why OMI?

  • Collaborative, team-focused culture
  • Meaningful mentorship and growth opportunities
  • Exposure to a wide range of innovations and technologies

If you are eager to learn, grow, and build your future, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today and start your journey with OMI—where your potential meets opportunity.
