The minimum salary is $24.505 per hour
This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.
Pay Grade 518

This position is eligible for Hazardous Duty Supplemental Pay ($90/month, $0.52c/hour) and CDL pay ($1.08/hour) upon hire.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION



The purpose of this classification is to be responsible for the safe and efficient collection and disposal of refuse and recyclable materials within the community through skilled vehicle operation to maintain community cleanliness and support environmental sustainability initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Two (2) years of commercial driving experience operating heavy equipment (rear loader, automatic side loader, GNC, mini-loader, roll-off dumpster, and knuckle boom experience preferred)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operates various trucks equipped with an on-board computer system in the collection of residential refuse, recycling, and yard waste or the collection of commercial refuse and recycling materials on an assigned route
  • Ensure that collections are made as required by the assigned schedule
  • Conducts pre-trip and post trip inspections of vehicles and equipment by visually and electronically checking for fuel, oil, grease, water, filter, tires, and overall general condition of equipment per safety requirements
  • Completes route sheets, notices, and service requests using the on-board routing system
  • May oversee an assigned work crew and ensure that they are following safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment
  • Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION



All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class B and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • CDL holders are subject to FMCSA query prior to qualification
  • Please attach a current copy of your CDL license to this application
  • Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
  • Must be available for on-call duty and ability to work weekends and holidays as assigned and on emergencies.
  • All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
