Our client, the U.S.’s largest commercial real estate services firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to support building operations at a commercial facility in Flanders, NJ . This 2+ month contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys keeping building systems running smoothly. The role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with preventative maintenance to ensure the facility operates safely and efficiently.
The technician will work closely with the hiring manager as part of a small, collaborative team while also taking ownership of certain tasks independently. This onsite position supports daily facility operations and vendor coordination within the Engineering and Technical Services function.
Full health benefits are included, with a consistent Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (1st shift) schedule and opportunities for on-call overtime.
Responsibilities
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on mechanical, electrical, and building systems
• Conduct routine facility inspections including fire extinguishers, exit signs, and safety equipment
• Perform general building maintenance such as painting, patching, and minor carpentry work
• Troubleshoot basic plumbing, electrical, and facility-related issues
• Escort vendors and contractors while work is being performed on-site
• Review and complete assigned maintenance work orders using facility systems
• Assist with equipment installations and system modifications when required
• Ensure building systems are operating safely and efficiently while supporting energy management initiatives
• Maintain compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and facility procedures
Required Experience
• 3–5 years of maintenance or facilities experience
• Strong basic troubleshooting skills across building systems
• Experience with lockout/tagout procedures and safety protocols
• Basic plumbing and electrical maintenance experience
• Ability to perform general maintenance tasks including painting and patching
• Strong attention to safety and detail
• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
Preferred Experience
• OSHA 10 certification
• Boom lift or scissor lift certification
• Experience with CMMS systems
• HVAC maintenance experience
• Advanced plumbing skills or ProPress experience
