Landman I / II / III

Location: Morgantown, WV (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

About Our Client

Our client is a publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company with a strong and expanding footprint in the Appalachian Basin. Headquartered in Morgantown, West Virginia, the organization is recognized for its commitment to responsible energy development, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.

With active operations across Ohio and Pennsylvania, our client offers a collaborative, team-driven culture where innovation, safety, and regional pride are at the core of everything they do.

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Landman (level I, II, or III depending on experience) to play a key role in supporting and executing critical land operations across the Appalachian Basin.

This is a dynamic, high-impact position where you’ll be at the center of drilling coordination, deal-making, and land strategy. From managing field activity to negotiating complex agreements and supporting drilling schedules, you’ll be directly contributing to the success of ongoing and future development programs.

If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy navigating complex transactions, and want to see your work translate into real operational outcomes—this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage field personnel supporting land acquisition and research initiatives
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Land, Operations, and Regulatory teams to support active drilling schedules
  • Clear wells, approve drilling locations, and establish production and allocation units
  • Facilitate third-party participation within units and support acquisition efforts
  • Draft and execute unit declarations, proposals, and supporting documentation
  • Negotiate with third-party operators and joint venture partners across a variety of agreements, including:
  • Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs)
  • Assignments and trades
  • Well proposals and COPAS agreements
  • Acquisitions and other commercial arrangements
  • Manage land acquisition projects and evaluate new prospect opportunities
  • Partner with Regulatory and Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely permitting support
  • Lead and represent the organization in statutory unitization processes, including interaction with regulatory agencies
  • Coordinate internal efforts related to surface land acquisition
  • Support Land Administration, curative processes, and division order activities
  • Utilize land systems and tools to generate reports and track project progress

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Management, Business, or a related field strongly preferred
  • AAPL certification (or progress toward certification) preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in land acquisition or a similar role within the oil & gas industry
  • Proven experience working within the Appalachian Basin (Ohio & Pennsylvania)
  • Strong negotiation skills with hands-on experience executing JOAs and third-party agreements
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks related to land and drilling operations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business tools
  • Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both internal teams and external partners
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of urgency and accountability

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to join a growing, well-capitalized operator where your work will have direct visibility and impact on drilling execution and asset development. You’ll gain exposure to complex deals, meaningful negotiations, and cross-functional leadership—positioning you for continued career growth within a high-performing organization.
